Teri fills in as an optometry technician when needed. In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family and 4 grand kids. She likes shopping , crocheting, and bowling.
Mariana has been an awesome addition to our Superior Vision Team. She does all of our preliminary testing along with any special testing our patients may need. She works hard and is always willing to learn. She is bilingual which is extremely helpful as we have a diverse patient base.
Kirsten has been our receptionist since 2015. She answers the phones, schedules appointments, and pull insurances. She is great at multi-tasking and is always willing to help in any way she can. In her spare time she loves spending time with her 3 kids and watching sports (especially hockey)
Katie recently joined the Superior Vision team in 2019. She is a great asset to our team. She is very dedicated to the practice and is wonderful with patient care and customer service.
Kalynn has been with Superior Vision team since 2018. Kaylnn is "Jill of all trades". She is primarily our lab technician, but divides her time between special testing and receptionist duties. Kaylnn has years of experience in many labs across Indiana, and we are very fortunate to have her on our team.
Tanja: She's been with us as an Optician since April 2015. She helps patients pick out their eyewear. She enjoys meeting new people. In her spare time she likes being outside doing yard work, detailing her car, swimming and dancing. She loves spending time with her family.
Sandra: I've been the office manager since the beginning. I helped open the business that we opened in February 2008. My duties consist of filing insurance, helping patients pick out frames, order frames from venders, as well as the lab. I pretty much overlook everyone and make sure they're doing their jobs correct. In my spare time I love to play softball, landscaping, sewing, and of course spend time with my new little one.
Kristi comes to us with 30+ years of optical experience. She began her optical career in Frankfurt, Germany, where she was apprenticed in a small optical shop at the former Rhein Main Air Force Base. Kristi has served as an Optician, Optical Office Manager, and a frame representative calling on doctors' offices throughout Indiana. Her experience allows her to find solutions to some of the more challenging vision obstacles patients may face. In addition, she has seen fashion trends come and go and always happy to help you find your best look. When she is not working, she enjoys painting and making jewelry.
Dr. Porter was born and raised in Indiana and lived most of her childhood on a farm with cattle and horses, in the out skirts of Bloomington. Growing up there, she couldn’t help but be a huge IU fan and a fond supporter of Bobby Knight. Her mother worked for the university, so they had season tickets to basketball and football games. She loves sports as a player and spectator, and her biggest crush now is the NFL and playing the fantasy. Like everyone, she had to endure many hurdles in her life, losing a brother in a tragic car accident when eleven, and also losing her Dad to Cancer in 1986. Both losses changed her life in that nothing lasts forever. Dr. Porter chose Indiana University because of her love for Bloomington and the campus. In 1984, she graduated with a Bachelors in Nursing. She did not enjoy this career choice, so returned to school searching for her calling. Many credit hours later, graduating from Optometry school in 1993 has been her true calling and is a career that she enjoys. Dr. Porter "I love my work, my employees and my patients. I believe I’m living the life I was directed to live." Her favorite hobbies are swimming, boating and camping with family and friends. In 2011, she was diagnosed with breast Cancer. What a crazy ride for survival, but she's currently Cancer free and feels blessed that she has so many wonderful people who supported, prayed and cared for her. Her Journey continues……
Dr. Lauren Gardner was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and raised in Charleston, Illinois, home of EIU and the original Jimmy Johns. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and minored in Chemistry at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Dr. Gardner realized she wanted to pursue her dream as an Optometrist when she found that wearing glasses changed her life as a young child. Lucky for her dad, Lauren is one of three girls, falling in the middle. Her family all migrated back to Indiana over the past four years as Indiana is where her parents went to college, met, and lived for many years. In her spare time she loves fishing, slalom skiing, traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with friends, family and her fiance (who is also an Optometrist). Gardner received her doctorate from Indiana University School of Optometry and is eager to start seeing patients at Superior Vision. She started her clinical training at Eye Surgeons of Indiana in Indianapolis, IN and LASIK Pro in Orlando, FL where she worked closely with several Optometrists and Ophthalmologists treating ocular diseases and co-managing refractive and cataract surgery patients. She continued her training at Indianapolis Eye Care Center where she worked in primary care, contact lens, and pediatric clinics. Gardner finished her training at Lawndale Christian Health Center in Chicago, IL where she worked mainly with the pediatric and geriatric population treating conditions such as amblyopia, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and corneal disorders. Gardner has performed mission work in Jamaica and Mexico during her schooling at Indiana University and hopes to continue this service throughout her career as an Optometrist. Dr. Gardner has been with us since 2017 and provides complete ocular health exams for adult and pediatric patients, contact lens fittings, surgery co-management, and treating ocular disease.
